Pastern Strap 4 pcs

A pastern strap is a safety strap that sits over the pastern on your Scootboots. It helps keep the boot on if your horse treads on itself, or if the boot sticks when you ride through mud. However, it is not the main thing that holds the boot in place. The pack contains four straps in the same colour, in other words two pairs.

Why your Scootboots need a pastern strap

Extra security. The strap works as a backup if the boot comes loose.
Strong material. It consists of very strong TPU.
Stretchy. In addition, the strap stretches under load. Therefore, it does not affect your horse’s pasterns when it sits correctly.
Adjustable. Several holes also let you adjust the strap to the thickness of your horse’s pasterns.

Pastern strap sizes

The size follows the size of your Scootboot Classic:

S – Scootboot size M00–000
M – Scootboot size 00–3
L – Scootboot size 4–9
XL – Scootboot size 10–11

Eight colours to choose from

The straps come in eight colours, and the colour names are the manufacturer’s own: Blossom, Emerald, Hibiscus, Marigold, Marine, Mulberry, Navy and black. If you want matching colours, Front Straps also come in the same colours.

How to fit your pastern strap correctly

First, make sure your horse is standing upright with its legs at 90 degrees. Then tighten the strap. Once it is secure, you should be able to fit one large finger or two small fingers between the strap and the front of the pastern. The correct fit matters, because otherwise the strap cannot do its job. A strap that sits wrong can also cause rubbing.

Pastern strap or Mud Strap?

A pastern strap is an extra safeguard against losing a boot. A Mud Strap, on the other hand, holds the boot more securely in deep mud and rough terrain. You can use both at the same time, but you do not need to.

Spare straps for your boots

Each pair of Scootboot Classic comes with four black straps (sizes M00–M3 have two). So if you need more, or want a different colour, this pack is the right choice.
