Put a sock or a plastic bag over the hoof. Boots that are damaged, dirty or visibly tried on can no longer be returned or exchanged.<\/p><p>In the video, certified barefoot trimmer and Scootboot sizing specialist Julia Stroh shows how to put on a pair of Scootboots.<\/p><\/div><\/div><ol class=\"sb-guide__steps\"><li class=\"sb-guide__step\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"sb-guide__thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/scootboots.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/form8.jpg\" alt=\"Opening the front straps and the pastern strap on a Scootboot\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\"><div class=\"sb-guide__body\"><span class=\"sb-guide__num\">2<\/span><h3 class=\"sb-guide__h3\">Open the front straps and the pastern strap<\/h3><p>Pick up the hoof with the sole facing upwards and slip the toe of the hoof into the boot.<\/p><\/div><\/li><li class=\"sb-guide__step\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"sb-guide__thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/scootboots.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/form7.jpg\" alt=\"Pulling the rear of the boot over the heel bulbs\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\"><div class=\"sb-guide__body\"><span class=\"sb-guide__num\">3<\/span><h3 class=\"sb-guide__h3\">Pull the rear of the boot over the bulbs and place the hoof on the ground<\/h3><p>The boot should slip on comfortably without force, but feel snug.<\/p><\/div><\/li><li class=\"sb-guide__step\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"sb-guide__thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/scootboots.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/form6.jpg\" alt=\"Closing the front straps with a hoof pick\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\"><div class=\"sb-guide__body\"><span class=\"sb-guide__num\">4<\/span><h3 class=\"sb-guide__h3\">Close the front straps<\/h3><p>Tip: use a clean hoof pick if the front straps are difficult to close.<\/p><\/div><\/li><li class=\"sb-guide__step\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"sb-guide__thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/scootboots.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/form5.jpg\" alt=\"Pastern strap secured with one finger of space at the front\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\"><div class=\"sb-guide__body\"><span class=\"sb-guide__num\">5<\/span><h3 class=\"sb-guide__h3\">Secure the pastern strap<\/h3><p>Fasten the strap around the pastern and make sure you can fit one finger between the strap and the pastern at the front.<\/p><p>Tip 1: if your horse is new to Scootboots, take it gently at first \u2013 just like shoes, the boots soften and adapt with use. Tip 2: use Trail Gaiters, especially for a horse that is new to boots or has sensitive skin.<\/p><\/div><\/li><\/ol><\/section><section class=\"sb-guide__part\"><h2 class=\"sb-guide__h2\">How to check the fit<\/h2><ol class=\"sb-guide__steps\"><li class=\"sb-guide__step\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"sb-guide__thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/scootboots.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/nedladdning-1.jpeg\" alt=\"Heel bulb test \u2013 a finger between the bulbs and the heel strap\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\"><div class=\"sb-guide__body\"><span class=\"sb-guide__num\">6<\/span><h3 class=\"sb-guide__h3\">Heel bulb test<\/h3><p>You should be able to push a finger between the bulbs and the heel strap (the part that goes over the bulbs). It is fine if you have to press a little \u2013 Scootboots stretch slightly after the first use.<\/p><\/div><\/li><li class=\"sb-guide__step\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"sb-guide__thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/scootboots.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/nedladdning-2.jpeg\" alt=\"Gap test \u2013 the gap at the front of the boot\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\"><div class=\"sb-guide__body\"><span class=\"sb-guide__num\">7<\/span><h3 class=\"sb-guide__h3\">Gap test<\/h3><p>Check that the top of the boot sits securely against the hoof wall all the way round the sides. There should be a gap at the front; its size depends on the shape of the hoof.<\/p><\/div><\/li><li class=\"sb-guide__step\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"sb-guide__thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/scootboots.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/nedladdning-2-1.jpeg\" alt=\"Front strap test \u2013 tension on the closed front straps\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\"><div class=\"sb-guide__body\"><span class=\"sb-guide__num\">8<\/span><h3 class=\"sb-guide__h3\">Front strap test<\/h3><p>The front straps should be firmly tensioned when closed. If you cannot close them with a hoof pick, the boots are probably too small or the wrong model for the hoof.<\/p><\/div><\/li><li class=\"sb-guide__step\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"sb-guide__thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/scootboots.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/nedladdning-3.jpeg\" alt=\"Wiggle test \u2013 trying to rotate the boot on the hoof\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\"><div class=\"sb-guide__body\"><span class=\"sb-guide__num\">9<\/span><h3 class=\"sb-guide__h3\">Wiggle test<\/h3><p>Pick up the hoof and gently try to rotate the boot both ways.
